WOTSO’s newest flexible workspace officially opened in the southern Sydney suburb of Kogarah on Monday – but some of the eager locals couldn’t wait that long.
Kogarah Space Leader Arianna Pozzobon explains that technical issues meant the Kogarah opening had to be pushed back two weeks.
“We had some delays due to our wi-fi installation, but a lot of people decided to move in early, even without wi-fi, because they were so eager to start working from WOTSO.”
She says the outstanding reception from locals is a great sign for the future.
“We haven’t done any marketing yet, but seven offices and a number of our coworking desks have already been taken by local businesses,” says Arianna.
CEO Jessie Glew says southern Sydney is underserviced by flexible workspace operators and represents a strategic growth opportunity.
WOTSO, whose members can work across any of its 30+ workspaces in Australia and New Zealand, already has sites at Botany and Zetland, and expects members to move between all three locations.
“We see this as a positive because people often do business across a region, and having multiple sites enables members to work from wherever is most convenient at the time,” she says.
“This is already happening in our western Sydney network, and we expect the same to happen in southern Sydney.”
The ASX-listed business is partnering with Kogarah RSL club on the 666sqm commercial space, located on the first floor of a modern mixed-used building the club developed five years ago.
“We’re creating a dynamic environment where business, community and social activities can co-exist,” says club Chairman Chris Blaxland-Walker.
Kogarah is an area in transition with a growing number of apartments and a relatively youthful demographic.
The site has excellent transport links and is tucked between two train stations, with the city and Sydney Airport in easy reach.
As for the workspace, it’s vibrant and colourful following a comprehensive fitout.
It features a mix of private offices and coworking desks, meeting rooms, an event space, staffed reception, admin services, a fully stocked kitchen and secure business-grade internet.
“This one has a strong WOTSO identity,” says Arianna. “We had a mural artist come and put some colour into the space, bringing some sparkle to the area.”
