2025 is set to be the biggest year ever in WOTSO’s long association with the Better Challenge, the major fundraiser for The Kids’ Cancer Project, which supports vital scientific research into better treatments for children with cancer.
This year Team WOTSO – a mix of staff, members, friends and family – aims to raise $25,000 across its network and is staging a special fundraising day on Sunday 21 September, with a DJ, BBQ and stalls at its spectacular North Head site, near Manly in Sydney.
North Head has great walking tracks with amazing views over Sydney Harbour and the CBD, and everyone who comes will be invited to walk or run 3km, 6km or 9km to help raise money for The Kids’ Cancer Project, whose CEO, Owen Finegan, will be joining in.
- Start the day at 8:30am at WOTSO Manly–North Head with an exciting, fun atmosphere followed by the fun run/walk starting at 9am sharp.
- Stalls from local businesses and WOTSO members.
- Live DJ beats to keep the energy high.
- Guest speakers sharing stories of impact and hope.
- A supportive, fun environment for families, friends, and individuals alike.
WOTSO CEO, Jessie Glew, said everyone is welcome and can sign up here. “It’s going to be fantastic day. The Kids’ Cancer Project is such a worthwhile cause and resonates strongly with our staff and members, who also love getting out and exercising together.”
More than 30 WOTSO locations have signed up for the actual challenge: walking, running or simply moving 90km over the 30 days of September, a distance representing the 90 Aussie kids diagnosed with cancer every month.
WOTSO staff and members have supported The Kids’ Cancer Project since 2016, raising more than $240,000 through different initiatives including the Better Challenge.
Finegan said “over the last decade, WOTSO and its incredible community has been unwavering in its support for kids with cancer. With its energy, generosity, and commitment, 2025 is shaping up to be its biggest impact yet. The WOTSO community’s support means the world to us—raising vital funds that go directly into scientific research to improve outcomes for children. I’m especially excited to join WOTSO at North Head, walking, running and standing together for a future where no child dies from cancer. On behalf of all the researchers, families, and children we support, thank you Team WOTSO.”
