A successful collaboration between WOTSO and Stockland, one of Australia’s largest diversified property groups, has created WOTSO’s first Sydney CBD coworking and flexspace at Stockland’s Piccadilly Complex in Pitt Steet.
WOTSO CEO Jessie Glew said all private flex offices at Piccadilly have already been taken and there’s growing demand for coworking desks from new and existing WOTSO members.
“People just love the location,” Glew said. “It’s a cost-effective solution for CBD flex at really competitive price points for such a well-located space – there’s so much happening in the Midtown area.”
WOTSO now has more than 30 sites across Australia and New Zealand and was immediately receptive when approached by Stockland’s S Connect team, which manages popups and innovation across its retail portfolio, to bring the space to life.
“S Connect have been so good to work with,” says Glew. “They wanted to bring WOTSO to Piccadilly and did everything to make it happen.”
Michele Pirozzi, Head of S Connect, said the WOTSO collaboration has strong potential for growth.
“We’re really excited about this collaboration are looking at other potential opportunities across our entire portfolio,” Pirozzi said.
“Stockland is focused on enhancing the experience for its customers and flexible workspace has a key role to play.”
Glew said the turnaround on Piccadilly – at 233 square metres WOTSO’s most compact site and its first Coworking Café – was rapid and the timing perfect.
“We’ve never found the right opportunity or right landlord in the Sydney CBD until now.”
WOTSO sites are predominantly located in major suburban hubs but Glew said she is open to more CBD sites if the timing, location and site is right.
The Coworking Café concept has been created by WOTSO for smaller, more intimate spaces that are proving popular in international markets, particularly Europe.
Despite the name, there’s no coffee for sale. The ‘café’ simply refers to the inviting, relaxed atmosphere.
“A space of this size and in this location helps address that feeling of being lost that some people feel in bigger spaces – everyone will know everyone here and will be able to find everything that they need,” Glew said.
As part of the Piccadilly Complex, WOTSO customers have access to two-levels of retail including food and dining, services and fashion as well as end-of-trip facilities, a wellness space and the Treehouse Childcare Centre.
WOTSO Piccadilly is a plug-and-play workspace with fast internet, casual meeting areas, kitchenette access and no lock-in contracts or deposits.
Day passes cost from $55 ($440 a month) while private offices start at $660 a month.
