Leading coworking operator WOTSO has announced it will open its second location in the Victorian capital early next year.
WOTSO is launching the new space at 171 Ferrars Street, South Melbourne, in partnership with landlord C.R. Kennedy Group.
It’s a quality building in a great location between Southbank and Port Melbourne. Less than 100 metres from the South Melbourne light rail stop, there is easy access to the CBD, St Kilda, and Docklands.
A strong local hospitality scene with cafés, bakeries, wine bars and dining along Clarendon and Coventry Streets gives the area life and the famous South Melbourne Market is only minutes away.
CEO Jessie Glew says the workspace is embedded in a true neighbourhood precinct.
“Surrounded by residents, local businesses, and a strong hybrid workforce, South Melbourne is exactly the type of community WOTSO aims to serve,” says Glew.
“It strengthens WOTSO’s presence in Melbourne and complements our CBD location at Bank Place, which we opened in April.
“This proximity supports WOTSO’s cluster strategy and gives members more choice while enabling them to work close to home.”
She adds that strong landlord alignment with C.R. Kennedy Group ensures a stable, supportive and long-term property relationship.
Regional Manager Millie Rowe expects much of the demand to come from nearby residents, and workers from local infrastructure work and property developments.
“As we have seen at our other locations, rising residential density and hybrid work models fuel demand from freelancers, remote workers and professionals seeking a work-near-home alternative,” says Rowe.
“We also believe ongoing development and infrastructure activity across South Melbourne, Southbank and the expanding Port Melbourne corridor will create consistent short-term and project-based workspace demand.”
WOTSO is taking 750 square metres on level 1. The space has excellent accessibility, a strong street presence, lots of natural light through large windows and direct frontage to Ferrars Street.
“It’s a high-quality building that allows for fast activation and minimal disruption,” says Rowe.
“Work will include upgrades to bring colour, vibrancy and WOTSO’s signature personality to the façade and internal spaces.”
Once the fitout is complete, WOTSO South Melbourne will offer 112 desks across a generous coworking area and 18 private offices.
In addition, there’ll be meeting rooms, event space, onsite reception, member support, fully equipped communal kitchen, breakout areas, reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, secure connectivity, 24/7 secure access, end-of-trip facilities and bike storage.
South Melbourne will be WOTSO’s 37th location across Australia and New Zealand and is scheduled to open in early February.
