The southern Sydney hub of Kogarah will house the newest WOTSO FlexSpace, bringing the ASX-listed company’s network to 32 locations across Australia and New Zealand.
CEO Jessie Glew says WOTSO is partnering with Kogarah RSL club on the 666sqm commercial space, which has a separate entrance and is conveniently positioned between two train stations – Carlton and Kogarah.
Glew says expanding WOTSO’s footprint into a part of Sydney where it has been under-represented is a sound strategic move.
“We believe southern Sydney offers significant potential for flexspace, which we’ve demonstrated through the encouraging performance of our Botany site,” says Glew.
“Kogarah has great transport links and there’s been strong population growth over the past three thanks to the increased densification of the area.
“Many of these new residents, the majority of whom are living in apartments, need a place to work and that is where the opportunity lies.”
Glew says WOTSO was introduced to Kogarah RSL through Nova Employment, a disability employment service which works with both businesses.
Kogarah RSL management saw the opportunity, were keen to utilise the space and an agreement was struck to create a WOTSO in the club.
Chris Blaxland-Walker, Chairman of Kogarah RSL, says the club continues to evolve and welcomes the imminent arrival of WOTSO.
To secure its long-term future, he says, the club was rebuilt five years ago as a multi-storey, mixed-use development, including apartments and commercial space.
“We’re creating a dynamic environment where business, community and social activities can co-exist,” says Blaxland-Walker.
“We’re still very much rooted in supporting veterans and veterans’ organisations, but the community has changed, and we need to change with it.
“So we’re offering elements that build greater community cohesion and bring different types of people together.
“Our WOTSO partnership is part of that strategy, and it also makes sense commercially. The office market is very different to when we first planned this development and flexspace is, we believe, the ideal use of space.”
Glew says the space, previously leased by the Welsey Mission, has a quality fit-out which will be further enhanced and adapted for the new WOTSO site, which is scheduled to open in April 2025.
