In a nutshell, tell us about Bluebird Technology & Consulting and what you do?
Bluebird Technology & Consulting is a family owned and operated Managed Service Provider (MSP) who specialise in delivering exceptional personalised IT support services to Medical Centres. Backed by over 20 years industry knowledge, and over 12 years spent working directly with medical centers, Bluebird Technology & Consulting pride themselves on resolving client issues at the first point of contact.
We cover IT Hardware, Support (Both Hardware and Software), Medical Software support, Phone Systems, Internet connections and everything in between. By offering a holistic IT support service, we remove the barriers clients face when trying to work out which provider they need to speak to in order to have their issues dealt with.
How did the concept for Bluebird Technology & Consulting come to light?
Bluebird Technology & Consulting came to be in July 2021 after many years of Kerrianne planting the seed in Stuart’s head that we could offer better services than we were seeing. While Stuart was not ready to branch out yet due to the fear of failure it took a bad incident with an ex-employer to make Stuart see what Kerrianne meant. With four kids (one only a month old) Stuart came into Kerrianne and said “That’s it. I have had enough. I can’t keep offering this type of service. You are right we can do better.” From there Stuart spent a week coming up with a business name (creativity isn’t his strong point) while Kerrianne essentially googled how to start a business.
How have you seen the demand for IT services, for Medical Centres change and adapt over the past few years?
The demand for IT services in Medical Centre’s has changed so significantly in the last few years due to the move in digital services from the Government. This has meant many things need to be integrated in the practice software so that things like Medicare changes and My Health Record being available to doctors and nurses as well as other great initiatives like Script monitoring being implemented.
Faster internet connections thanks to the National Broadband Network has meant that a lot more services are in the cloud now and has allowed Telehealth to become a major driving force for Medical Centre’s. Particularly since COVID impacted everyone in such a big way.
The other major impact from these changes has also meant security has become even more important. The Medicare breach and Optus breach have really brought to light the importance of security and Cyber Insurance for everyone.
What is a notable challenge you have faced as a business owner, and how did you overcome it?
Being a small family-owned business, one of the biggest challenges we faced was getting our business up and running. Knowing that this was going to be our only source of income, we had a massive fear of failure. We quickly realised that although we were going into business for ourselves, it didn’t mean we had to do it by ourselves. We surrounded ourselves with an amazing support team of business advisors and with much guidance and support (and the occasional facepalm) from them we were able to get ourselves up and running quickly and smoothly. We work hard to ensure that every day we remember we started our business to ensure that our clients are able to take advantage of the best possible solution for them whilst also loving their IT services.
What have been some key drivers of success for Bluebird Technology & Consulting?
Moving to WOTSO in Mandurah was by far the best step for us as a company. Being able to move out of working from home and into a shared space where so many people around us have so much knowledge, so friendly and always able to offer advice has made us as a business grow both physically and mentally. Without having a shared workspace, we honestly believe we would not be where we are today and looking to grow further.
Another key driver for our success has been the passion that Stuart and Kerrianne share in being friendly, approachable, and keen to help. Stuart and Kerrianne really want to break that stereotype that IT people are stuck in a basement and just tell you to reboot your computer all the time or even worse make you feel silly for asking a question. They really believe the only silly question is the one that hasn’t been asked. This has been shown by the referrals and recommendations our clients have provided to us and other business owners.
What are exciting things can we expect from Bluebird Technology & Consulting this new year?
This year Bluebird Technology & Consulting has big plans to grow further by hiring more staff and moving into a bigger WOTSO office. We are reinvigorated after the Christmas/New Year break and can not wait to go full steam ahead in 2023.
