The exciting evolution of North Sydney’s business precinct – supercharged by the arrival of the Sydney Metro at Victoria Cross Station – took another step forward with the official opening of the new WOTSO flexspace at 50 Miller Street.
WOTSO, which now has 31 sites in Australia and New Zealand, took over the space on April 1 and the event was a great opportunity to celebrate the opportunity and reflect on the journey so far.
CEO Jessie Glew told the gathering the WOTSO team is “super excited” to be part of North Sydney’s growth story and that the attractive three-level space, which used to be a WeWork, has a great feel and even better location.
“We love it and are so pleased to be here,” she said.
Event speaker Sami Schiavi, Head of Flexible Workspace at Colliers, said flex space is a big part of the new North Sydney, where there have been significant changes in the office market over the past five years.
“Landlords have ploughed a lot of time and money into their assets to transform them and get the amenity piece up and firing to a level comparable to the CBD market,” Ms Schiavi said.
“That’s attracted a lot of flex operators, which has created brand awareness and introduced new tenants to this market by getting people out of their homes and into a flex office.”
She said many people underestimate how important flex is to the overall office market.
“This country is built on small business and they are what makes this environment thrive with WOTSO helping them grow.”
Local state MP Felicity Wilson said WOTSO is playing an important role in the local community by giving residents a place to work close to home.
“I think that the connection to the places we live – we want to be close to our families, we want to have more choices about the way we spend our time – is really intertwined with what WOTSO does,” Ms Wilson said.
“It’s about ensuring that location doesn’t prohibit the things that you want to do with your work, your family and your social life.”
