WOTSO Rhodes officially opened yesterday morning with a great crowd on hand to celebrate the creation one of WOTSO’s finest coworking spaces, operated by WOTSO in partnership with Frasers Property Australia.
CEO Jessie Glew says WOTSO Rhodes was soft-launched last December “and we’re so excited about how it’s come together” both in terms of design and market reception.
She says it work well with WOTSO’s nearby North Strathfield location. “We’ve seen a really nice synergy between those two places and in the next couple of weeks we’ll be launching a new space at Macquarie Park and I can see how those three spaces will interplay with each other.”
Rhodes, a peninsula on the Parramatta River about 20km west of Sydney’s CBD, was industrial heartland until the 1980s when the factories were gradually replaced by residential and commercial developments.
“Rhodes has always been a place of employment,” Local state member Stephanie Di Pasqua told the gathering.
“We’ve seen change, but what I like most is that places like WOTSO are here so that when our new community comes – because there are more buildings coming – there are opportunities to live and work locally.
“I think that’s really important, especially for busy families and working parents.”
Asset Manager Henrietta Stokes from Frasers Property Australia says the office landscape has changed significantly since Rhodes Quarter, a complex of six office buildings was completed in 2004.
Stokes says each of the buildings have typically been leased as corporate headquarters to single building tenants or multi floor occupiers, but over the evolution of the office market in the past decade, Rhodes Quarter is now home to more than 60 businesses (and growing) of all different sizes in the flourishing precinct.
“The nature of what was Rhodes Corporate Park and what is now Rhodes Quarter has changed dramatically, and it’s a pleasure to be part of this transformation,” Stokes says.
She says that when was an underutilised floor of Level 3, Building C. “Noting the high quality fit out that was in situ, it made us ask ourselves, what opportunities are out there to activate the space and what is the gap in our amenity?”
The answer was coworking. In the search for the correct partner who shared Frasers’ values of community and belonging, Frasers spoke with numerous operators before selecting to partner with WOTSO. Henrietta commented that WOTSO fully aligned with their customer-led values and understood the brief to use the existing features to sustainably transform the space.
“It now means we have this amazing amenity at Rhodes Quarter, which can cater to small businesses and help any of our existing tenants who might want to downsize, or have project teams in flexible space,” Stokes says. “Not only that, but we hope that this incredible space can incubate growing local businesses who might later want to lease larger office spaces that we have available in other buildings across the precinct”.
