A unique artwork created by members of WOTSO Toowoomba featured in the silent auction at the 2026 Toowoomba LifeFlight Gala, one of the regional Queensland city’s leading social and civic events.
The gala raised $957,000 for the construction of the Clive Berghofer Visitor Experience and Education Centre, set to become a major regional tourism and community asset for the Darling Downs region.
WOTSO was also a silver sponsor of the event which attracted more than 700 guests, a huge show of support for LifeFlight’s busiest regional base.
Regional Manager Queensland, Amber Row, said the artwork goal was to create something tangible, reflecting community connection, that every WOTSO Toowoomba member could contribute to.
“We wanted each WOTSO Toowoomba member to contribute to a shared work but were exploring the right medium and how those individual contributions could come together cohesively,” she says.
“The solution was a large puzzle that could be displayed in a frame with each WOTSO member contributing a piece each. Now complete, the puzzle forms a unified artwork that reflects a collection of unique parts coming together to create something bigger.”
Themed “Every Piece Matters”, all members were asked to visually depict “what local means to you” on their puzzle piece.
Staying true to WOTSO’s “Work Local” tagline, local suppliers were contracted to make the base, pieces and custom frame. The artwork fetched $450.
Row says that LifeFlight plays a crucial role in keeping the community across the Darling Downs and southwest Queensland safe, providing aeromedical assistance to almost 1,000 people – from stranded climbers to injured farmers – in 2025.
“What LifeFlight does is so important and we are proud to support their work.”
