Every entrepreneur at WOTSO has a foundation story. Some are better than others.
Congratulations to Tim Engelbrecht, founder of Greedy Bear, on the launch of Australia’s first alcoholic sparkling mead. Tim, originally a wedding photographer, has been an integral part of the WOTSO community since 2019 and says the feedback and support of his co-workers at Neutral Bay and Cremorne played a major role in the development of Greedy Bear.
“That’s one of the benefits of WOTSO,” says Tim. “You have all these other cool entrepreneurs and people at your disposal. You say ‘hi, try this’ and you have feedback instantly from a whole range of people: old, young, IT nerds, robotics specialists, designer nerds – the full spectrum.”
Greedy Bear Original – the core product Tim chose after the WOTSO blind tasting – launched in July. Tim brewed 5000 litres which he pre-sold online and has so far personally delivered to more than 200 consumers around Sydney, often under the cover of darkness.
Demand has been stronger than anticipated and Tim is now gearing up for a second batch and exploring next steps such as sorting out distribution channels and exploring outside investment to fully commercialise his product. |
Sitting still is never an option at WOTSO, which is currently rolling out a new tech framework across all 27 sites to deliver market-leading internet and digital technology for members.
CEO Jessie Glew says the upgrade, in partnership with essensys, delivers ultra-fast, exceptionally secure internet, ensuring a consistent high-level user experience throughout the WOTSO network.
Seven WOTSO sites are already live, with installation across all locations expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
“This is an extremely robust system which will allow us to deliver a best-in-class experience for our members across every location,” says Glew. |
