Recycled materials, including timber and shipping containers, play starring roles in the fitout of the latest WOTSO site in Jamisontown, near Penrith, which is due to open in early April.
Paula Dayeh says the timber was originally part of the Arnott’s Biscuit factory in North Strathfield, built in 1908, and was removed during the construction of WOTSO North Strathfield.
Aware of the timber’s true value, WOTSO stored it for many years in the shipping containers that have now been converted to private offices at Jamisontown, which Dayeh says is a “hotly awaited addition” to WOTSO’s western Sydney portfolio.
“WOTSO Penrith, our original Penrith site, has been consistently full, and there’s a really nice community there. We’ve been speaking about this site becoming a potential WOTSO for a long time now, so when this opportunity came up, it made sense to pursue it,” Dayeh says.
“It’s also a chance to try a different format to our Station Street fitout, which has a more corporate feel. Jamisontown will be a funkier, recycled style WOTSO fitout.”

Katrina Couchman, who is transferring from WOTSO Penrith, which is close to the train station and in the heart of the CBD, believes the two sites will work well together “because what one site hasn’t got, the other one has”.
“The Blue Mountains and Glenmore Park people don’t have to go into Penrith, they can stop here before they get that far,” says Couchman, a born and bred local who attended Jamison High School.
“Jamisontown is ground level, which a lot of people are liking. It will also have a HealthSpace, for which we’re getting a lot of enquires.”
WOTSO Jamisontown, once leased by Toys R Us, is in a large format retail and service centre on Mulgoa Road with multiple tenants, including a childcare centre, Tru Ninja, City Cave and national retailers such as BCF and Barbeques Galore.
It will feature a mix of up to 20 private offices, more than a dozen of which will be converted shipping containers, coworking desks, plus standard WOTSO amenities such as secure business grade internet, a fully stocked kitchen, meeting rooms, staffed reception and office services.
